Studio receives 7 national awards

Vogel Design LLC, a Wichita-based digital and print design studio operated by David Vogel, received seven certificates of excellence in the 2018 American Graphic Design Awards this fall, recognizing outstanding new work and design excellence.

The national competition is sponsored by Graphic Design USA magazine. For more than five decades, GDUSA has sponsored a range of national design competitions, and its American Graphic Design Awards is the original and the flagship, open to the entire creative community: design firms, ad agencies, corporations, non-profits, institutions and more. It honors outstanding new work of all kinds and across all media. 2018 marks the 55th anniversary of this contest.

“Being recognized by this organization is an incredible honor,” Vogel said. “Look through lists of past winners, and you see massive design firms that do work for international brands you see every day. It is both exciting and humbling to be included in this circle.”

Vogel is a 2012 graduate of Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., where he studied design, communications, English and marketing. He began Vogel Design LLC as his full-time occupation in the spring of 2014. Vogel Design LLC specializes in web, mobile and print design, as well as brand development, for organizations of all kinds across the United States.

“Roughly 10,000 entries were submitted,” wrote GDUSA editor Gordon Kaye and awards director Rachel Goldberg. “A highly selective 10% are recognized today.”

They added that winning multiple awards, as Vogel Design LLC did, is rare.

The seven certificates of excellence received by Vogel Design recognize the following entries: website design for First Christian Church (Emporia), McPherson Veterinary Clinic (McPherson), Springs Forth! (Newton); mobile app design for the U.S. Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches Youth Commission (Wichita); logo design for Hammond Avenue Brethren Church (Waterloo, Iowa); convention booklet design for the Kansas Choral Directors Association (Topeka); and cover design for the “Another Spring” novel series from Wings of Hope Publishing (Hutchinson).
