Studio receives 9 national awards

Vogel Design, a Hillsboro-based digital and print design studio operated by David Vogel, was honored last month with nine 2015 American Graphic Design Award certificates, recognizing outstanding new work and design excellence.

The national competition is sponsored by Graphic Design USA magazine.

For five decades, GDUSA has sponsored a range of national design competitions, and its American Graphic Design Awards is the original and the flagship, open to the entire creative community: design firms, ad agencies, corporations, non-profits, institutions and more. It honors outstanding new work in 23 categories from print and packaging to Internet and interactive design.

“It is humbling and an honor to have these projects recognized by my peers” Vogel said. “It is always my intention to give my clients the highest quality work that I can, and this recognition is confirmation that these projects have lived up to the standard that I’ve set for myself.”

Vogel is a 2008 graduate of Hillsboro High School and a 2012 graduate of Tabor College. He started Vogel Design as his full-time occupation in the spring of 2014. Vogel Design, a member of the Hillsboro and Newton Chambers of Commerce, specializes in web design and mobile app development for small business, and also offers a wide range of design and print services.

More than 10,000 entries were submitted in the 2015 contest, and a highly selective 15 percent were chosen to be recognized, GDUSA said, also noting that one organization receiving multiple awards is rare.

The nine certificates of excellence received by Vogel Design recognized the following entries: website design for the Hillsboro Animal Clinic (Hillsboro, Kan.), Inman Museum (Inman, Kan.), Newton Young Professionals (Newton, Kan.), Papa’s Pumpkin Patch (Newton, Kan.) and Watermark Communications, Inc. (Nashville, Tenn.); development for the Ampride (Hillsboro, Kan.) mobile application; cover art for A Place of Refuge published by Wings of Hope Publishing Group (Hutchinson, Kan.); and logo design for the Flint Hills Children’s Choir (Manhattan, Kan.) and Missing Motherhood nonprofit (Hutchinson, Kan.).
