Vogel Design, a Hillsboro-based digital and print design studio operated by David Vogel, was honored this month with three 2014 American Graphic Design Award certificates, recognizing outstanding new work and design excellence.
The national competition is sponsored by Graphic Design USA magazine.
For five decades, GDUSA has sponsored a range of national design competitions, and its American Graphic Design Awards is the original and the flagship, open to the entire creative community: design firms, ad agencies, corporations, non-profits, institutions and more. It honors outstanding new work in 23 categories from print and packaging to Internet and interactive design.
“I’m excited and honored to have my work recognized by the national design community,” Vogel said. “I love what I do, and receiving these three certificates is an appreciated affirmation that I’m doing it well.”
Vogel is a 2008 graduate of Hillsboro High School and a 2012 graduate of Tabor College. He started Vogel Design as his full-time occupation in the spring of 2014. Vogel Design, which joined the Hillsboro and Newton Chambers of Commerce this summer, specializes in web design and mobile app development for small business, and also offers a wide range of design and print services.
More than 8,000 entries were submitted in the 2014 contest, and a highly selective 15 percent were chosen to be recognized, GDUSA said, also noting that one organization receiving multiple awards is rare.
Of the three winning pieces submitted by Vogel Design, two were prospective retail packaging designs for a national foods provider headquartered in this region. The third certificate of excellence was awarded for the design of the Vogel Design website. These and other recent projects can be viewed at www.davidbvogel.com.
