We’ve watched with the rest of the world in shock and sadness at the devastation taking place in Australia. The toll that the wildfires are taking on the people, critters and ecosystem of that beautiful country is heartbreaking. So we decided to do something to send a little help… Right here from Wichita.
We’ve designed four Aussie-themed characters and put them on some very stylish and comfy t-shirts. $10 from every t-shirt sold will be donated to Wildlife Warriors, a program operated by Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.
The Australia Zoo is owned by Terri Irwin, the wife of famed wildlife conservationist and “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin. Their daughter, Bindi, is taking in many displaced animals at the hospital, and the zoo’s Wildlife Warriors program is raising money for new enclosures to house flying foxes and koalas injured or displaced by fires.
#FLAGSWAG! In addition to the cute animals, each t-shirt features the Wichita flag in the shape of Australia, and our (new!) Wichita Cares emblem.
We hope you’ll consider sending a little help to our friends down under by purchasing one of these t-shirts. If you’d like more information about other ways to contribute to Australia wildfire relief efforts, check out this USA Today article.
Please note: These shirts are being sold by Vogel Design LLC, a for-profit business in Wichita, Kansas. As such, no amount of your purchase can be legally counted as a charitable contribution, and therefore is not tax-deductible. Vogel Design will submit the pledged proceeds from each sale to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital at the end of each month (for as long as these shirts are for sale here) via the donation form on the Wildlife Warriors website (wildlifewarriors.org.au).
